Lee Gaines

Lee Gaines (born Otho Lee Gaines in 1914, Buena Vista, Mississippi and died July, 1987 in Helsinki Finland) was a singer who founded the jazz and pop vocal group the Delta Rhythm Boys. He also wrote the lyrics for at least two Duke Ellington compositions, "Just Squeeze Me" and "Just A-Sittin' and A-Rockin'." Some sources credit Gaines with a hand in the lyrics of the Billy Strayhorn standard "Take the A Train" but this is dubious.

See the New York Times obituary for Lee Gaines.
