The 1944 movie Lady in the Dark, based on the Broadway show, was released in February, 1944, with very little of Weill's score or Gershwin's words left in tact. The only song included in something like its entirety was "The Saga of Jenny." Snatches of "My Ship" "hummed by Ginger Rodgers in great perterbation" are heard through out the film, while the other song from the show found in the Cafe Songbook Catalog of The Great American Songbook, "This Is New," was reduced even moreso, only being played at one point by a night club band (Sanders, Weill, pp. 332-33, hard cover ED.).
